Chapman, Distin Record Nation-Leading Marks on Final Day of 44 Farms Team Invitational

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M's Timara Chapman and Lamara Distin recorded nation-leading marks in the women's heptathlon and high jump, respectively, on the final day of 44 Farms Team Invitational Saturday at E.B. Cushing Stadium.
Chapman carried her momentum over to the second day of the women's heptathlon, winning two of the three events to total 6219 points. That mark ranks her No. 1 in the nation for the heptathlon this year and entered her in the Aggie history books at No. 2 all-time. Teammate Joniar Thomas also had an impressive day, winning the 800m event and accumulating 5916 points which puts her second in the nation.
Distin opened her outdoor campaign winning the women's high jump with the No. 1 mark in the nation, as she soared over 1.96m/6-5. The clearance also broke her own meet record from the 2021 season. On the men's side, Carter Bajoit secured the win with a leap of 2.14m/7-0.25.
Blake Harris concluded his career performance on the second day of the decathlon, garnering 7488 points to win the event. Harris also picked up a pair of personal bests in the javelin (50.02m/164-1) and discus (37.93m/124-5). His result debuts him at No. 7 on the A&M all-time performers list. Landon Helms concluded the event by accumulating a personal best 7241 points for a second-place finish, while securing career marks in the discus (41.60m/136-6) and javelin (41.81m/137-2).
Kennady Fontenot and Emma Little debuted in the women's 3000m steeplechase, and both secured all-time marks. Fontenot won the event with a time of 10:18.59 to shoot to No. 2 all-time in the A&M history books, while Little crossed the line in 10:54.90 for second and No. 9 in the record books.
The Aggies claimed another six event wins on the final day, as Jevon O'Bryant won the men's 400m in a time of 46.31. Cooper Cawthra added a victory in the 1500m, crossing the line first in 3:50.22, while Jaiya Covington topped the women's 100m hurdles with a season-best time of 12.99. Freshman, Ondrej Gajdos, claimed his first win of the outdoor season in the men's 800m, clocking a time of 1:50.63. In the men's shot put, Bryce Foster sealed the event win with a toss of 17.95m/58-10.75. Rounding out the wins was the quartet of Cutler Zamzow, Christian Rosales, Kirk Collins Jr. and DeMarco Escobar in the men's 4x400m, who brought the result home in 3:10.88.
