No. 14 Texas A&M Outlasts Kentucky to Claim Series, 10-9

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 14 Texas A&M softball team claimed its fourth SEC series win of the season outlasting Kentucky, 10-9, Saturday evening at Davis Diamond.
Texas A&M (31-7, 10-4 SEC) jumped on the Wildcats early scoring five runs and batting around in each of the first two innings. The Aggies plated eight runs on two-outs, including Kramer Eschete driving in four of those two-out runs with a three-run home run in the opening frame and an RBI double in the second inning. Amari Harper, Jazmine Hill and Rylen Wiggins each recorded multiple hits in the opening two frames.
Kentucky (23-14, 2-9 SEC) scored a run in the first and two in the second before Emiley Leavitt came in relief pitching a pair of scoreless innings as the Aggies took a 10-3 lead to the fourth. The Wildcats continued to threaten scoring a run in the fourth with no outs, before Leavitt struck out the side. Kentucky added another run in the sixth and back-to-back home runs in the seventh to come within three, 10-7.
Emiley Kennedy made her second appearance in as many days with runners on second and third with two outs in the final inning. Kentucky's Rylea Smith drove a single to center field scoring two runs, while Hill threw the ball to the infield as Harper caught the relay sending it Koko Wooley catching Smith out at second to end the game.
Leavitt earned her seventh win of the season totaling 5.0 innings and striking out seven, while yielding four runs on three walks and five hits. Kennedy recorded her fourth save of the season.
