Aggies Fall in SEC Semifinal to No. 7 Florida, 7-3

AUBURN – The No. 10 Texas A&M softball team fell to No. 7 Florida, 7-3, in the SEC Tournament semifinal Friday night at Jane B. Moore Field.
Texas A&M (40-13) faced an early deficit as the Gators registered a five-run second inning, including a three-run home run and a two-run home run. The Aggies fought back scoring two runs on three hits in the fourth and one run in the fifth to make it a two-run game, 5-3.
Florida (45-12) extended its lead in the sixth after reaching on consecutive two-out walks before a double to left center plated two runs.
Kennedy Powell led the offense hitting 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run, while Trinity Cannon, Koko Wooley and Kramer Eschete each recorded a hit.
Aggie starter Emily Leavitt suffered the loss after allowing five runs on seven hits in 1.2 innings of work. Shaylee Ackerman registered 2.0 scoreless innings, while striking out one and yielding three walks and one hit. Brooke Vestal struck out three batters in 2.0 innings, while yielding two runs and two walks.
Texas A&M finds out its postseason destination on Selection Sunday at 6 p.m. on ESPN2.
