Women’s Basketball Learns SEC Opponents for 2025 League Slate
May 14, 2024 | Women's Basketball
BIRMINGHAM – The Texas A&M women's basketball team learned its opponents for the 16-game conference slate for the 2025 SEC schedule, the league announced Tuesday.
The schedule consists of a single round robin of home or away (14 games) with one rotating opponent that will be played at home and away (2 games). Each team will play eight home games and eight away games. The rotating opponent changes annually. This marks the 16th season of the 16-game schedule for women's basketball. Texas A&M's mirror opponent this season will be the Arkansas Razorbacks.
The Aggies' home docket features five postseason tournament teams with Florida and Arkansas coming to the Brazos Valley after their 2024 WBIT runs. From last year's NCAA Tournament, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Texas will make their way to Aggieland. The matchup with the Longhorns will be the 88th between the two programs and the first since 2021. Also coming to Reed Arena will be Georgia, Kentucky and Missouri.
The Maroon & White's road slate is highlighted by trips to the past two National Champions in LSU and South Carolina. They will also go to Norman, Oklahoma, for the first time since the 2011-12 season to play the Oklahoma Sooners. Texas A&M will also travel to Auburn, Alabama, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt and Arkansas.
The Aggies, led by Head Coach Joni Taylor, increased their win total from the previous year by 10 and were selected to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 2020-21 campaign. The win jump of 10 was tied for the most from year one to year two of a coach at new school in SEC history since the start of the NCAA (1981-82). The record was tied with Women's Basketball Hall of Famer Carolyn Peck during her first two years at Florida (2002-04).
The non-conference schedule, times, dates and television information will be announced at a later date.
