Aggie Men Punch 10 Tickets to Nationals on Day Three of NCAA West First Round

FAYETTEVILLE – The Texas A&M track & field men's team added 10 tickets to nationals on the third day of the NCAA West First Round Friday at John McDonnell Field.
The Aggies added another nine individual qualifiers and one relay team to nationals, bringing their total to 11. Kicking off the day's momentum was Victor Kibiego in the 3,000m steeplechase, as he finished second in his heat with a time of 8:48.48 to ensure his trip to Eugene, Oregon.
Ja'Qualon Scott followed suit right after in the 110m hurdles, running an all-conditions best 13.25 to win his heat and advance to nationals second overall out of the west.
Two events later, Auhmad Robinson and Jevon O'Bryant both qualified for nationals in the 400m. Robinson won his heat and advances to Oregon with the fastest time out of the region, crossing the line in 45.18, while O'Bryant placed second in his heat in 45.63 for an auto-qualification spot.
The Maroon & White 800m trio of Kimar Farquharson, Sam Whitmarsh and Caden Norris were next up on the track and made their presence felt. All three men ran in the second heat with Farquharson leading the way for the win in 1:47.24, Whitmarsh was right behind in 1:47.26, while Norris claimed the remaining timed qualifying spot in 1:47.99.
Grabbing the final two individual tickets were Scott and Bryce McCray, as they secured auto-qualification spots with a 1-2 finish in the opening heat of the 400m hurdles. Scott ran a personal-best 49.96 for the victory, while McCray matched his prelim time of 50.24 for second.
Wrapping up the day for A&M was the 4x400m quartet of O'Bryant, Cutler Zamzow, Farquharson and Robinson. The Aggies were in a two-horse race for the west title, and thanks to a kick on the home straight from Robinson, the Maroon & White won the event with a time of 3:01.22.
