No. 3 Aggies Shutout Grambling in Regional Opener, 8-0

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 3 Texas A&M baseball team shutout Grambling 8-0 in the opening game of the NCAA Bryan-College Station Regional Friday afternoon from Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
Brad Rudis, Eldridge Armstrong III, Tanner Jones and Weston Moss combined for the Aggies (45-13) 11th shutout of the season, which marks the second most in program history. Rudis earned the win after striking out one over 1.2 scoreless innings of work. Jones, who made his first start since May 5, received a no-decision after striking out four over 3.1 scoreless frames.
Ted Burton led the charge offensively as the senior racked up a team-best three RBI and finished 3-for-4 at the plate. Braden Montgomery joined Burton with a three-hit afternoon of his own, while Ali Camarillo rounded out the multi-hit performers with a 2-for-4 day at the dish.
After a scoreless first from both clubs, the Aggies broke the game open in the second with a seven-run frame. Burton led the way with a pair of hits to go along with two RBI. Camarillo, Montgomery and Jace LaViolette also recorded an RBI in the frame, while a pair of wild pitches made up for the remaining two Texas A&M runs.
In the fourth, Burton extended the lead to 8-0 with his third RBI of the afternoon on a single to left.
The Maroon & White staff worked around nine hits for the Tigers (26-27) and stranded 14 baserunners on the afternoon to finish off the shutout.
