
Distin Named to CSC Academic All-America Team

AUSTIN, Texas – Texas A&M's Lamara Distin highlighted the Division I College Sports Communicators Academic All-America Team, the organization announced Tuesday.
The Hanover, Jamaica, native concluded her collegiate career donning a 3.5 GPA while earning her bachelor's degree in sport management and a 3.75 GPA in her work towards a graduate certificate in leadership education theory and practice. Her hard work in the classroom was awarded in her final year as she was named both the indoor and outdoor SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year.
She added a pair of First Team All-America honors to her resume this season, along with an NCAA record in the indoor women's high jump, as she became the first collegiate woman to clear the 2.00m/6-6.75 mark.
Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 21,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports. For more information about the Academic All-America Teams program, visit cosida.com.
