- Bryce Deadmon won the second Olympic gold medal of his career, as he and the United States 4x400m relay team won the title for the third-straight Games with an Olympic-record time of 2:54.43.
- Shamier Little won gold with the women's 4x400 relay team right after. She opened the race with the fastest first split (49.48) propelling the Red, White and Blue to the title and setting the American record with a time of 3:15.27.
Diving
- Australia's Jaxon Bowshire wrapped up his Olympic debut with a 16th-place finish in the 10m platform semifinal, posting a score of 379.40.
