No. 14 Aggies Open Home Slate Against Roadrunners
Jan 17, 2025 | Men's Tennis
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 14 Texas A&M men's tennis team will open the 2025 season against the UTSA Roadrunners at the home opener on Saturday, Jan. 18, with first serve set for 4 p.m. at the Mitchell Tennis Center.
"I am excited to get the season going this weekend," head coach Steve Denton said. "We will face a very tough and experienced team in UTSA for our opener. We will need to hit the ground running. We have some experienced guys back who know what to expect and that coupled with our newcomers, it is going to be a very exciting time and we can't wait to get started."
The Aggies are coming off of their spring opener at the Sun Devil Preseason Invitational, where the team rallied a 29-15 record.
No. 60 JC Roddick led the team in singles with a 9-5 ranking in the fall. Leading the way last fall in doubles was No. 48 duo Togan Tokac and Luke Casper, who went undefeated, 3-0.
With 11 returners on the team, the veteran Aggies are ready to launch the new season at home. Donning the Maroon & White for the first time are freshman Theo Papamalamis and transfers Tomas Pinho, Filip Pieczonka and Damien Salvestre.
The Maroon & White are 7-1 against UTSA, but the Roadrunners handed the Aggies a 4-3 loss in their most recent meeting.
