No. 2 Aggies Sweep USF to Advance to ITA Kickoff Weekend Championship

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 2 Texas A&M women's tennis team claimed its second-straight sweep (4-0) and 57th-consecutive win at home versus South Florida at the Mitchell Tennis Center Friday.
Texas A&M (2-0) dominated doubles action with Daria Smetannikov/Mia Kupres claiming the first win of the day on court 1 over Sienna Leeson/Margherita Marcon, 6-0. Nicole Khirin/Jeanette Mireles followed with a sweep on court 3 versus Dharani Niroshan/Melisa Senli, 6-0 to give the Aggies a 1-0 lead heading into singles.
Lexington Reed secured the first singles victory of the day, downing Niroshan (6-2, 6-1) on court 5. She extended her winning streak to eight matches and doubled the advantage for the Maroon & White.
No. 102 Smetannikov followed with a dominant performance on court 4, topping Leeson 6-0, 6-1 to claim her 18th win of the season, the most by any Aggie this season.
Moments later, Kupres secured the victory, taking down Marcon on court 2 (6-2, 6-1).
Two other Aggies were leading before the match was clinched. Lucciana Perez was up 6-2, 5-1 on court 3 over Charlotte Ruud and Jeanette Mireles was right behind her on court 6, leading 6-0, 4-1 versus Karine Kuldijian.
