Jan 28, 2025 | Track and Field
BIRMINGHAM – Texas A&M track & field's Jaiya Covington was named SEC Women's Runner of the Week following her school-record showing at the Ted Nelson Invitational, the league announced Tuesday.
Covington opened her 2025 campaign with a bang, as she finished as the top collegiate in the women's 60m hurdles final in a record-breaking time of 8.01. Her mark snatched the top spot of the history books from Kaylah Robinson who set the time at the NCAA Championships in 2022. The junior's 8.01 mark ranks first in the NCAA this season and is tied for the No. 8 time in the world this year.
The Aggies return to action this week as they split travel between the John Thomas Terrier Classic and the New Mexico Team Open with events running from Jan. 31-Feb. 1.
