Aggies Go Undefeated on First Day of ITA Texas Regional Main Draw

FORT WORTH – All four members of the Texas A&M women's tennis team participating in the ITA Texas Regional Championships advanced to the singles round of 32 with wins Friday. The Aggies also had two tandems claim spots in the doubles round of 16 at the Friedman Center
No.22 Mia Kupres made quick work of Tarleton's Ximena Morales Araneda, 6-2, 6-2. Anna Perelman recorded her third victory in two days with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph over Baylor's Alian Zack. No. 64 Daria Smetannikova toppled Texas Tech's Ella Brownback, 6-1,6-4. Violeta Martinez registered a 6-4, 6-3 win over Kseniya Ramanouskaya of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
In doubles, Martinez/Perelman dropped Juliette Jalai/Ofer Kivity of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 8-2, and Clara Sobius/Emma Persson of Tarleton, 8-6. Kupres/Smetannikov opened with a round of 64 bye before beating Dariia Medviedieva/Duru Kuscu of Tarleton, 8-4.
Saturday's singles round of 32 action begins at 9:30 a.m. Kupres battles Incarnate Word's Estefania Gonazalez. Perelman plays Texas Tech's Yekaterina Dmitrichenko. Smetannikov has a bout slated with Baylor's Wenfei Yui. Martinez faces Rice's Divna Ratkovic. The round of 16 is slated for Saturday afternoon.
The doubles round of 16 is slated for 8 a.m. Martinez/Perelman square off against Brownback/Elena Daskalova of Texas Tech. Kupres/Smetannikov also face two Red Raiders, battling Yekaterina Dmitrichenko/Xenia Logvin.
