Aggies Unable to Hold on Against UCF
Nov 14, 2025 | Men's Basketball
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION -- In a game that saw six ties and eight lead changes, the Texas A&M men's basketball team was unable to hold on late, falling to UCF, 86-74, at Reed Arena Friday night.
The two teams traded baskets in the early minutes until Josh Holloway knocked down a 3-pointer just inside the 13-minute mark to spark a 12-3 run and put the Aggies (2-2) up 19-13. UCF (3-1) slowly chipped away at the difference and eventually tied things up at 30 at the half.
The Maroon & White controlled the momentum out of the locker room, jumping out to a two-possession lead and quickly distancing themselves by double digits. Texas A&M took a 14-point lead nearing the midway point in the half, but the Knights strung together a 13-2 run to get back within two, 61-59, with 7:42 on the clock. UCF used another late scoring spree to put the game out of reach.
Marcus Hill led six Aggies in double figures, with his second straight 14-point performance. Rashaun Agee led the rebounding efforts for the Aggies with eight, while adding 13 points.
POST GAME QUOTES
Head coach Bucky McMillan on the team's defense …
"Our defense was really good until the last 12 or 13 minutes. We really guarded, stayed in, locked in, kept it out of the paint. For whatever reason, in those last minutes, it wasn't good enough. I really felt in the game that we had them where we wanted them. I felt we were fresh in some spots and had them on the ropes. When they went to their press it was just kind of a 'let's hope this works, if we get it down the floor we will have a number advantage'. It got them right back in the game and you saw the momentum change."
