BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 6 Texas A&M volleyball team concluded the regular season with its best record since 1984 after sweeping Georgia Sunday afternoon at Reed Arena, 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-13).
The Aggies (22-3, 14-1 SEC) wrapped up their best regular-season campaign in the last 41 years with a 22-3 record following their 14th sweep of the year over the Bulldogs (16-9, 8-7 SEC). Texas A&M also claimed its best conference regular-season finish (second) since 2015. The win was made possible through a program record for hitting efficiency in a three-set SEC match, as the group hit .525 percent behind five Aggies hitting .500 or above.
The teams traded points out of the gate, before Texas A&M forged a four-point gap prompting the bulldogs to call their first timeout of the game (13-9). The break didn't stop the Aggies as back-to-back kills from Ifenna Cos-Okpalla and Logan Lednicky had Georgia huddling up again (15-9). Never faltering, Texas A&M closed the frame (25-13) with a 10-4 streak, spearheaded by efficient offense, hitting a staggering .536 percent in the set.
In similar fashion to the opener, the programs remained in lock step early, but once again Texas A&M went on a run heavily backed by nine kills in the first 15 points (15-10). The Bulldogs had no answer, as the onslaught continued with the gap once again extending late (20-14). The Maroon & White's foot remained on the gas, as Georgia logged two-straight errors and the Aggies ripped off three kills once again capped off by Lednicky to take the frame (25-17) and double their lead in the match, 2-0.
Carrying all the momentum into the third, Texas A&M scored the first five points of the frame forcing the visitors to huddle up. The advantage doubled as Georgia called its final timeout of the set, as it tried to slow the Aggie attack which registered seven kills between the two breaks (13-3). The Bulldogs never got closer than nine points away, as the Maroon & White claimed the final set (25-13) and match of the regular season, 3-0.

COACH'S QUOTES
Head coach Jamie Morrison on today's match…
I was really happy with how our team came out and played. At the very beginning there was a sense of urgency and desire. We were executing at a really high level. We talked a little bit about being who we are regardless of the circumstances and when we get pushed, being a little more of that. Georgia is a great volleyball team, and I think we were hard to beat on the day.
PLAYER'S QUOTES
Senior middle blocker Ifenna Cos-Okpalla on how the team closed out the regular season…
It feels good finishing out the season so strong. We know we have a lot coming. Everything that we've worked for, since August and as we get ready both tournaments, it just feels good. We have a special group. We want to accomplish a lot this season. Knowing that this is our last time playing at home in the regular season means a lot.
Senior opposite hitter Logan Lednicky on how the team was so efficient…
See space, hit space. I think that we did the scout report well. The setters do a great job of planning what rotation and what is going to fit good in the match. Jeff [Fiorenza] calls what Maddie [Waak] is going to do well. I think they do a great job and helped exposed some of Georgia's weaknesses.
