Aggies Log Three Qualifying Cuts on Final Day of Texas Invitational

AUSTIN – The Texas A&M swimming team produced three NCAA qualifying cuts and two swims that entered the school's top 10 list on the final day of Texas Invitational Friday at the Jamail Texas Swim Center.
Providing the top finish was sophomore Ben Sytsma with a runner up effort in the men's 100 free in a lifetime best 42.30, which was under the NCAA qualifying standard of 42.55. The time moved Sytsma to No. 5 in the school record book.
Junior Logan Brown took fourth in the men's 200 IM which was well under his lifetime best and the NCAA qualifying standard 1:41.59. The time moved Brown to No. 3 in the school record book being only behind Shaine Casas and Baylor Nelson.
Sophomore Ella McQuinn placed second in the "B" final of the women's 100 free in a lifetime best 48.54, which was under the NCAA qualifying standard.
The Texas A&M men closed out the day with a runner up finish and a NCAA provisional cut time in the 400 free relay with the quartet of Sytsma, junior Ben Scholl, Brown, and sophomore Chase Swearingen finishing in 2:49.38.
The women had a ninth-place finish with the Aggie foursome of McQuinn, senior Kaitlyn Owens, freshman Reagan Sherrard, and freshman Celina Springer touching in 3:17.11.
