Aggie Swimmers Fall to Arizona Wildcats in Road Dual

TUCSON – The Texas A&M swim team dropped a pair of dual meets to the Arizona Wildcats Saturday morning at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center on the Arizona campus. The men's team fell 188.50-124.50 and the women's team lost 179-135.
Providing two first-place finishes for the Aggies was senior Munzy Kabbara in the 200 back in 1:43.39 and in the 400 IM 3:48.12. Freshman Bucky Gettys, sophomore Ben Sytsma, and junior Logan Brown also had first-place finishes. Gettys touched first in the 500 free in 4:21.87; Sytsma won the 50 free in 19.45; Brown finished first in the 200 breast in 1:54.84.
On the women's side, sophomore Ella Smoker, junior Ava Whitaker, sophomore Ella McQuinn and junior Hannah O'Leary all had first place finishes on Saturday morning. Smoker won the 200 breast in 2:12.87; Whitaker touched first in the 100 fly in 52.87; McQuinn took first in the 200 free in 1:46.17; O'Leary finished first in the 400 IM in 4:17.14.
The Aggies opened the meet with the women winning the 200 medley relay in 1:36.80 with the foursome of senior Kaitlyn Owens, McQuinn, Whitaker and freshman Reagan Sherrard. The men finished second with the quartet of freshman John Simmons, senior Lane White, freshman Chase Swearingen and Sytsma.
The Maroon & White closed out the meet with second-place finishes in the 400 freestyle relay (McQuinn, Owens, freshman Eloise Williamson and freshman Reagan Sherrard) touching in 3:17.98 and the men (Sytsma, Brown, Swearingen and freshman Alejandro Michelena) finishing in 2:53.64.
