Men’s Basketball Takes Down East Texas A&M, 118-77

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M men's basketball team matched the school record for 100-point games in a season, registering its fifth of the year with a 118-77 victory over East Texas A&M at Reed Arena Sunday afternoon.
The Aggies (9-3) shot a season-high 64.9-percent (48-74) from the field and 50-percent (14-28) from 3-point range in the win as Rashaun Agee led four players in double figures with 21 points, adding eight rebounds. The Maroon & White matched their season-high with 32 assists, led by Pop Isaacs and Jacari Lane, who tallied six apiece.
Texas A&M dominated in the paint, outscoring the Lions (6-6) 66-24 while holding a 43-36 advantage on the boards. Mackenzie Mgbako, who rounded out the double-digit scorers with 12 points, led the way with nine rebounds.
The Aggies got things going early, using a 16-2 run to go up 20-6 with just over 13 minutes remaining in the first half. Texas A&M continued to push, knocking down four-straight 3's around the midway point in the period before a 12-2 spree saw the Aggies take their largest lead of the half, up 48-17 with 5:15 on the clock.
Texas A&M took a 56-35 lead into the break as Marcus Hill led three Aggies in double figures with 13 points, going 5-for-5 from the field. Isaacs knocked down four 3-pointers to tally 12 points and Agee added 10. As a team, Texas A&M shot 67-percent from the field in the opening period and went 7-for-12 (58%) from beyond the arc.
East Texas A&M hung around early in the second half, but the Aggies eventually got the difference back over 30 points with seven minutes left to play to put the game away.
