Feb 14, 2025 | Softball
CLEARWATER, Fla. – The No. 5 Texas A&M softball team extended its winning streak to eight games after posting three crooked frames to run-rule UCF, 9-1, in five innings on Friday at the Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational.
Texas A&M (8-0) struck first plating two runs on two hits to open the game, followed by UCF (6-3) scoring an unearned run in the top of the second. The Maroon & White answered back in the bottom half after Allie Enright and Kramer Eschete led off with a pair of singles, followed by Koko Wooley with a two-RBI triple to make it 4-1. Ol' Sarge's charges kept surging after Kennedy Powell caught a Knight snoozing as she reached third on a fielder's choice and Wooley scored. Mac Barbara recorded her team-leading 16th RBI scoring Powell on a ground out as the Aggies were in the driver's seat with a 6-1 lead after two innings.
The Aggies added three more runs in the third on five hits, including three doubles, as A&M entered run-rule territory, 9-1.
All-American Emiley Kennedy kept the Knights at bay earning her fourth win of the season going 4.0 innings and striking out five batters, while Sidne Peters slammed the door shut in the fifth striking out all three batters she faced.
