CLEARWATER, Fla. – The No. 5 Texas A&M softball team claimed its 10th win of the season defeating Charlotte, 4-2, Sunday at the Shriners Children's Clearwater Invitational.
The Aggies (10-1) threatened in the first inning after Kennedy Powell led off with a single, followed by her fifth stolen base of the season. Powell advanced 60 feet after a ground out before Amari Harper drove her in for the game's first run.
Charlotte (2-7) answered in the top of the second scoring two runs on four hits before Aggie starter Emily Leavitt was able to get of the jam leaving two 49ers stranded.
DeeDee Baldwin put the Maroon & White back in front after hitting a two-RBI double to center and advancing to third on the throw home with no outs in the fourth. Baldwin scored after Powell hit a sac-fly to center field to give the Aggies a 4-2 lead.
