Aggie Freshmen Spark Late Victory Rally Against No. 19 Baylor, 10-7
Feb 08, 2025 | Softball
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – True freshmen KK Dement and Frankie Vrazel ignited the third-largest crowd in Davis Diamond history with a fifth-inning rally as No. 7 Texas A&M erased a six-run deficit to defeat No. 19 Baylor, 10-7, Friday night in front of 2,407 fans.
Trailing 7-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning and no outs, Texas A&M (3-0) was sparked by an RBI triple from Dement. Vrazel followed with a double to score Dement, before crossing home plate herself on a wild pitch to make it a three-run game, 7-4. The Maroon & White would add one more run in the frame to bring it within two.
All-American Emiley Kennedy entered the top of the sixth and immediately shut down Baylor (2-1) in order on six pitches as momentum carried to the bottom half of the inning. Within striking distance, Ol' Sarge's charges took control following a 2-RBI double to right center courtesy of Kennedy Powell, while Mac Barbara followed with a 251-foot blast to center field to put the Aggies in the driver's seat towards a 10-7 victory.
Baylor capitalized on Texas A&M's early defensive errors and a mental miscue to take 5-0 lead after the first two innings. A&M answered in the third frame as Kramer Eschete tripled down the first base line to score Vrazel and make it a 5-1 game. The Maroon & White continued to dig itself in a hole following a two-out fielding error that led to Baylor extending the lead six runs after four innings of action.
