Aggie Men Capture 4x400m National Lead on Final Day of Charlie Thomas Invitational

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M track & field team closed its final indoor regular season home meet with a national-leading mark Saturday evening at the R.A. 'Murray' Fasken '38 Indoor Track & Field facility.
The Aggies capped off another standout weekend highlighted by the No. 1 time in the country in the men's 4x400m relay, as the quartet of Auhmad Robinson, Hossam Eddine Hatib, Antonie Nortje and Kimar Farquharson crossed the line in 3:02.88 to claim the 10th and final event win of the meet.
Jaiya Covington continued her hurdles dominance, as she swept the prelims and semis on the way to the final, where she posted a time of 8.09 to win the event and ensure her third-straight meet as the top-finishing collegiate. On the men's side, Ja'Qualon Scott added a second-place result in the final with a mark of 7.64.
The women's 60m group held the momentum in the center of the track, as Camryn Dickson, Bria Bullard and Jasmine Montgomery swept the podium spots in the final. Dickson led the group in 7.31, Bullard recorded a personal-best time of 7.33 and Montgomery rounded out the top three in 7.40.
Switching to the oval, Jermaisha Arnold made her stamp on the national stage winning the 400m in a season-best mark of 51.86 to rank fourth in the NCAA this year. Kimar Farquharson added a win to the total in the 800m with a time of 1:49.00.
Adding to the momentum on the track were the 3,000m groups, as Kennady Fontenot and Maddie Livingston both recorded A&M all-time marks. Fontenot logged a personal-best time of 9:23.61 to win the event and move into second place in the history books, while Livingston also recorded a career-best time of 9:33.63 to finish 3rd in the event and move into 12th. The men's race also featured an event winner, as Jonathan Chung crossed the line first in another best time of 8:13.69.
Moving to the field, the Maroon & White swept the triple jump titles for the second-straight week as Winny Bii won the women's event and Jaydon Shield won the men's. Bii recorded another impressive mark of 13.82m/45-4.25 for her third-consecutive triple jump title. Shield captured to first victory of his collegiate career, leaping 15.33m/50-3.5. Also in the field, Heather Abadie matched her own school record in the pole vault, clearing 4.40m/14-5.25 to place second in the event.
Concluding the meet on top were both the men and women's 4x400m teams won their respective events with impressive showings. The women's group consisting of Latasha Smith, Yierra Flemings, Kennedy Wade and Arnold crossed the line in 3:22.51 which is a top-15 time in the country. Finally, the men's 4x400m group of Robinson, Hatib, Nortje and Farquharson dominated from start to finish and won the event in a national-leading mark of 3:02.88 which ranks seventh on the A&M all-time list.
Blake Harris also wrapped up his heptathlon campaign, as he jumped up the A&M record books to No. 3 all-time following a total of 5,503 points to place third in the event. He entered the day with 3,042 points and thanks to a first-place finish in the 60m hurdles (7.97), a personal-best clearance in the pole vault (4.30m/14-1.25) and a seventh-place result in the 1,000m (2:49.64) he ensured his third-place result.
