No. 2 Aggies Win Third-Straight at Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 2 Texas A&M women's tennis team defeated Kentucky, 4-0, for its third straight win in and fifth sweep in conference action.
The Maroon & White (18-2, 9-1 SEC) went up early against the Wildcats (9-9, 3-6 SEC) after securing the doubles point. Nicole Khirin/Lexington Reed claimed their 10th victory as a duo on court 3 versus Ellie Meyers/Julia Zhu, 6-2. Shortly after, No. 33 Mary Stoiana/Lucciana Perez clinched the point with a win on court 1 versus No. 65 Ellie Eades/Elizabeth Stevens, 6-3, capturing their fourth ranked win of the season as a pair.
Reed was the first to strike for the Aggies in singles, downing Meyers 6-2, 6-3 on court 6 for her 21st win of the year. The freshman improved her record in league play to 6-1.
No. 40 Perez added the third point of the evening on court 4 with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph over Tess Butcher for her 10th-straight victory, improving her overall record to 18-3. Perez remains undefeated in conference matches at 9-0.
No. 2 Stoiana dealt the clinching blow on court 1, claiming her team-high 16th ranked win of the year over No. 59 Zoe Hammond, 6-4, 6-3.
Texas A&M travels to Knoxville to play No. 7 Tennessee on Sunday at 12 p.m. at Barksdale Stadium.
