BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 4 Texas A&M softball team fell in the rubber match to No. 3 Florida, 4-2, Sunday afternoon at Davis Diamond.
Down a run in the second and fourth innings, Texas A&M (21-4, 1-2 SEC) matched the Gators both times as the top five teams battled to a 2-2 tie through five frames. KK Dement tied the game on each occasion when she scored the first run in the second as Olivia Johnson doubled and then in the fourth when she led off with a solo jack.
Florida (26-2, 2-1 SEC) hit its second home run of the game in the sixth before adding a sac-fly in the seventh to lead 4-2. Down to their final out, the Aggies had runners on first and second before a flyout ended all hope of a comeback.
