MEET PREVIEW: 44 Farms Team Invitational

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M Track & Field team returns to E.B. Cushing Stadium to host its first of three outdoor meets, starting with the 44 Farms Team Invitational April 11-12.
This year marks the third iteration of the 44 Farms Team Invitational and will be the largest of the three meets to date. Over 30 teams are in the field, with half coming from power four institutions. The meet features an action packed schedule inducing 20 of the 21 events competed at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, excluding only the 10,000m.
Rolling into the fourth week of outdoor competition, A&M has been the program to watch as the men rank No. 1 in the country, while the women are third according to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Last Time Out
The Maroon & White put on a dominant performance at the Florida Relays last weekend, as the group set a new school record, captured three national-leading marks, won six events and made seven alterations to the A&M all-time performers list.
The men made their stamp on the meet through a trio of top marks in the country. Auhmad Robinson ran a personal-best time of 44.61 in the 400m to top the nation while also capturing the third-fastest time in the world this year. The senior was also a member of the 4x400m quartet which included Antonie Nortje, Cutler Zamzow and Kimar Farquharson who pace the country and world after running 3:02.15 to win the meet. Ja'Qualon Scott claimed the final top mark after winning the 400m hurdles, crossing the line in 49.37.
The women were highlighted by a school-record showing from Debora Cherono in the 3,000m steeplechase. The freshman recorded a time of 10:02.32 in her first collegiate attempt in the discipline, capturing the event win and program-best time. Camryn Dickson added to the wins on the weekend in the 100m, as she ran the fastest wind-legal mark in the NCAA in 11.11 seconds for the victory. The junior also helped the 4x100m relay team consisting of Latasha Smith, Bria Bullard and Jasmine Montgomery claim the meet title in a season-best time of 42.94.

A&M is joined at the meet by another 31 schools, including Auburn, Baylor, East Texas A&M, Eastern Michigan, Georgia, Houston, HCU, Illinois, Incarnate Word, Iowa State, Lamar, Louisville, Michigan, Mississippi State, Nebraska, North Texas, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Princeton, Sam Houston, SMU, TCU, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas State, Texas Tech, USC, UT-Arlington, UTSA, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin.
Top-Ranked Aggies
The Aggie men hold eight top-five marks in the country, including Robinson (44.61), Zamzow (45.30) and Nortje (45.41) in the 400m, Farquharson (1:45.99) and Sam Whitmarsh (1:46.76) in the 800m, Cooper Cawthra in the 1,500m (3:36.79), Ja'Qualon Scott in the 400m hurdles (49.37) and the men's 4x400m relay (3:02.15).
On the women's side they boast seven top-five marks, led by Camryn Dickson in the 100m (11.06), Dickson (22.48) and Montgomery (22.59) in the 200m, Jaiya Covington in the 110m hurdles (12.82), a pair of 4x400m relays (42.94, 43.43) and Winny Bii in the triple jump (13.71m/44-11.75).
