Texas A&M, Texas Set to Rumble in SEC Tournament Semifinal

ATHENS – The nationally ranked No. 1 Texas A&M softball team continues SEC Tournament action as the No. 2 seed takes on No. 3 seed Texas Longhorns in the semifinal round, Friday night at Jack Turner Stadium. First pitch is set for approximately 5:40 p.m. or 35 minutes following the conclusion of the No. 1 seed Oklahoma and No. 5 seed Arkansas game.
Friday's semifinal game will broadcast nationally on ESPN2 with Beth Mowins (play-by-play), Michele Smith (analyst) and Texas A&M Hall of Famer Amanda Scarborough (analyst) in the booth, while Holly Rowe is reporting live from the field. All Aggie softball games can be heard on the 12th Man Mobile app or locally on Willy 1550 AM with Matt Simon as the play-by-play voice in his 11th season with Texas A&M softball. Texas A&M (44-9) has advanced to the semifinals in consecutive seasons for the first time in program history after Thursday's quarterfinal 12-4 run-rule over No. 7 seed South Carolina. Texas A&M's 12 runs set an SEC Tournament single game record, while the 11 RBI matches the most in SEC Tournament history with Georgia in 2015 and Florida in 2009. Mya Perez led the Aggies going 2-for-4, 1 HR, 5 RBI, 2 R, while KK Dement added four RBI and Kennedy Powell drove in a pair after a two-run home run for her first round tripper of the season. Emiley Kennedy moved to 20-4 after 5.0 innings of work and six strikeouts, while yielding four runs, four walks and four hits. Koko Wooley (.464) and Mya Perez (.418) are each batting over .400, while Perez (6), KK Dement (5), Amari Harper (3) and Allie Enright (2) have each homered multiple times.
