
Texas A&M Remains on the Road to Take on Texas Saturday

AUSTIN – The Texas A&M men's basketball team remains on the road to take on Texas in the Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown Saturday at 5 p.m. at the Moody Center.
The Aggies (13-4, 3-1 SEC) look to get back in the win column after falling in a double-overtime battle at No. 24 Tennessee Tuesday, 87-82. Texas A&M led for 35:48 and didn't trail by multiple possessions until the second overtime period, but the Volunteers outscored the Aggies 10-3 down the stretch to put the game away. Jacari Lane led the way with 20 points and nine assists, both season highs, while Pop Isaacs filled out the stat sheet with 16 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Texas A&M ranks sixth nationally, scoring 93.0 points per game and is knocking down 11.5 3-pointers per contest, good for fifth in the country. Rubén Dominguez leads the league and ranks No. 8 in the country making 3.6 3-pointers per game. He has connected on four 3's in every SEC game so far this season and is coming off a 15-point performance at Tennessee.
With the Aggies using a consistent rotation and 10 players averaging over 12 minutes each, the Maroon & White's bench ranks fourth in the country contributing 40.1 points per game. Isaacs has led the way in league play, averaging 15.3 points, 4.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds.
On the defensive end, Texas A&M ranks second among Power 4 teams with 16.4 forced turnovers and 9.6 steals per game. Rylan Griffen paces the Aggies averaging 1.9 steal per game, which ranks among the top-five in the league.
Texas enters Saturday's game at 11-6 on the season and 2-2 in SEC action. The Longhorns are coming off back-to-back victories over top-15 opponents, including an 80-64 win over No. 10 Vanderbilt Wednesday and 92-88 win at No. 13 Alabama. Texas holds a 140-88 advantage in the all-time series that dates back to 1917. The Aggies and Longhorns met three times last season, twice in the regular season and again in the SEC Tournament. Texas A&M earned an 80-60 victory over Texas at home a year ago in the two teams' first clash as SEC foes.
