BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M men's basketball team returns to Reed Arena Wednesday for an 8 p.m. tip against Mississippi State on SEC Network.
The Maroon & White moved to 14-4 on the season and 4-1 in SEC play with a 74-70 win over Texas Saturday. The victory marked the first for the Aggies in Austin since 2002. With the score locked at 29 at the half, Rylan Griffen sparked the Aggies out of the locker room, scoring 10 of their first 12 points of the new period. Texas A&M never trailed in the second half and despite the Longhorns cutting the difference to three late in the game, they held on for the victory. Griffen helped lead the way with 17 points, shooting 80-percent (4-5) from 3-point range in the period, while Rashaun Agee registered his eighth double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Agee has continued to lead the way for Texas A&M, averaging 14.6 points and 10.0 rebounds in conference action. He has recorded three double-doubles through five league games and has scored in double figures in seven straight games. On the season, Agee ranks second among league players averaging 8.7 rebounds, while his 6.1 defensive boards per game are also good for second in the league.
Texas A&M ranks eighth nationally, scoring 91.9 points per game and is knocking down 11.3 3-pointers per contest, good for eighth in the country. Rubén Dominguez leads the league and ranks No. 9 in the country making 3.4 3-pointers per game. He has connected on four 3's in four of A&M's five SEC game so far this season.
On the defensive end, Texas A&M leads the SEC and ranks second among Power 4 teams with 15.9 forced turnovers and 9.4 steals per game. Griffen paces the Aggies averaging 1.8 steals per game, which ranks sixth in the league.
Mississippi State sits at 10-8 on the season, 2-3 in SEC action. The Bulldogs got out to a strong start in league play, topping Texas on the road in overtime and Oklahoma, but are currently on a three-game skid after falling to Ole Miss 68-67 at home Saturday. The all-time series between the Aggies and Bulldogs is tied at 10 games apiece. The two teams have traded victories each season since 2020 and Texas A&M took the last matchup in Reed Arena, topping Mississippi State 75-69 in 2024.
