No. 11 Aggies Defeat Elon, 6-1, in Midweek Matchup

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Texas A&M men's tennis team defeated Elon in a midweek contest, 6-1, on Wednesday at the Wake Forest Tennis Center.
Sophomore Theo Papamalamis clinched the victory for the Aggies over No. 91 Veljko Krstic 6-4, 6-4. This was the sophomore's first action of the season after missing the fall due to injury.
The day started off on the right foot with the Aggies picking up two 6-1 doubles victories. Junior Tiago Pires and freshman Markus Molder struck first, 6-1, on court 3 over Parichkov and Krstic. The No. 29 duo of Alex Frusina and Kholo Montsi clinched the point for the Aggies after taking down Ymer and Curtis on court 2, 6-1.
Molder, a freshman from Estonia, secured his first win in his debut action as an Aggie after a dominating win on court 4 over Charles Pilet, 6-1, 6-2.
No. 112 Montsi put the Maroon & White one away from the victory after a battle in the first set, and coming out swinging in the second over Nikola Parichkov, 7-6(5), 6-1.
After the match was clinched Frusina dropped the Aggies only point of the day. Pires and senior Togan Tokac picked up wins on court 5 and 6 respectively to bring the final score to 6-1.
The Aggies will stay on the road for ITA Kickoff Weekend at NC State, where they will look to secure a spot at the ITA Indoor National Championships. The Maroon & White will face fellow conference opponent Tennessee on Friday at 4 p.m.
