Jan 23, 2026 | Men's Basketball
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M men's basketball team closes out a week of home games hosting South Carolina at 12 p.m. Saturday inside Reed Arena.
The Maroon & White sit atop the SEC alongside Florida with a 5-1 record in league play and a 15-5 record on the season. Texas A&M rolled to an 88-68 victory over Mississippi State Wednesday night, its largest margin of victory in league play this season. The game began as a back-and-forth battle until a 13-2 run put the Aggies in front and they never looked back. Texas A&M shot a season-high 95.8% (23-of-24) from the charity stripe and recorded a 6-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio with 18 assists. Rashaun Agee led the way with a season-high 23 points and five assists, adding 10 rebounds, while Rylan Griffen added 15 points.
Agee has continued to lead the way for the Maroon & White, averaging 16.0 points and 10.0 rebounds in conference action. His nine double-doubles this year are the third-most in a season by an Aggie, while his career tally of 29 is tied for ninth among active Division I players. On the season, Agee ranks second among league players averaging 8.8 rebounds, while his 6.2 defensive boards per game are also good for second in the league.
The Aggies rank eighth nationally, scoring 91.7 points per game and are knocking down 11.2 3-pointers per contest, good for eighth in the country. Griffen has been strong for the Aggies as of late, scoring in double figures in four straight games and averaging 14.0 points and 2.8 3-pointers per game in that span.
Texas A&M leads the SEC and ranks second among Power 4 teams with 15.7 forced turnovers and third with 9.3 steals per game. Griffen paces the Aggies averaging 1.8 steals per game, which ranks sixth in the league.
South Carolina moved to 11-6 on the year and 2-4 in league play with an 85-76 win over Oklahoma at home to snap a three-game skid. The Gamecocks leads the all-time series 10-6, but the Aggies have stolen two of the last three meetings. Last season, Texas A&M topped South Carolina, 76-72, in Columbia.
