
Aggies Battle Arizona State Tuesday for ITA Indoor Championship Bid

WACO – The Texas A&M women's tennis team plays the Arizona State Sun Devils Tuesday evening in Waco. First serves at Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center are slated for 6:30 p.m.
The Aggies and Sun Devils battle for a chance to advance to the ITA National Team Indoor Championship from Feb. 6-10 in Illinois.
Texas A&M is 2-1 all-time against Arizona State. Ironically, the last meeting came in Waco with the Aggies topping the Sun Devils, 4-1, in the first round of the NCAA Championship.
Texas A&M is off to a 4-0 start following 7-0 wins over Tulane, Lubbock Christian, Air Force and Sam Houston on the opening weekend. Lucciana Perez, Lexington Reed, Daria Smetannikov, Violeta Martinez and Anna Perelman all registered 4-0 marks in single play to open the year.
Arizona State is 3-1 on the season. The Sun Devils opened with 4-0 home wins against UC Davis and Grand Canyon before dropping a grueling 4-3 skirmish against Southern Cal. ASU earned a spot in Tuesday's match with a 4-2 victory over TCU Monday in Fort Worth. On court 1, Emilija Tverijonaite is 5-0 overall with a 2-0 mark in dual action. Vivian Ovrootsky is 3-0 in dual action, all on court 3.
