Men’s Basketball Returns to the Road to Face Georgia

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M men's basketball team hits the road to take on Georgia Saturday at 12 p.m. on SEC Network.
The Maroon & White have sole possession of first in the league after moving to 6-1 in SEC play and 16-4 on the season. Texas A&M took down South Carolina 92-69 a week ago. Zach Clemence led the way with a career-high 21 points, connecting on 7-of-8 from beyond the arc. The Aggies nearly topped the school record for 3's in a game set earlier this year, knocking down 17 in the victory. Rylan Griffen filled out the stat sheet, adding 16 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals.
Rashaun Agee has continued to lead the way for the Maroon & White, averaging 15.3 points and 9.6 rebounds in conference action. His nine double-doubles this year are the third-most in a season by an Aggie, while his career tally of 29 is tied for ninth among active Division I players. On the season, Agee ranks second among league players averaging 8.7 rebounds, while his 6.2 defensive boards per game are also good for second in the league.
The Aggies rank seventh nationally, scoring 91.8 points per game and are knocking down 11.5 3-pointers per contest, good for sixth in the country. Griffen has been strong for the Aggies as of late, scoring in double figures in five straight games and averaging 15.4 points and three 3-pointers per game in that span.
Texas A&M ranks first among Power 4 teams with 15.5 forced turnovers and fourth with 9.1 steals per game. Griffen paces the Aggies averaging 1.8 steals per game, which ranks fifth in the league.
Georgia enters Saturday with a 16-5 record on the season and sits at 4-4 in SEC play after falling to Tennessee in overtime, 86-85, earlier this week. Texas A&M leads the all-time series with the Bulldogs, 10-5, and has claimed each of the last six meetings. The Aggies notched a 69-53 in Reed Arena a season ago and brought home a 70-56 victory from their last trip to Georgia.
