Aggies Drop 99-84 Decision at No. 20 Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE – The Texas A&M men's basketball team was doomed by a late surge from No. 20 Arkansas in a 99-84 loss to the Razorbacks Wednesday inside Bud Walton Arena.
The Aggies came out on the wrong end despite a career-high 29 points from Zach Clemence. He drained 11-of-14 (78.6%) from the field, including 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. Clemence scored 22 of his points in the second half.
Rashaun Agee tacked on 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
Texas A&M (19-9, 9-6 SEC) made 52.6-percent (30-of-57) from the field in the game, including 59.4-percent (19-of-32) in the second half, but was unable to overcome the Razorbacks' 18-4 margin in second chance points.
After the Razorbacks made the game's initial bucket, Texas A&M ran out to an 11-2 advantage at the 15:08 mark. Arkansas (21-7, 11-4 SEC) answered with 16-0 and 14-4 surges to take a 37-22 lead with 2:32 remaining in the first half. The Aggies pulled back into striking distance, scoring the last three baskets of the stanza to cut the deficit to 37-28 at the intermission. Agee paced Texas A&M with 13 points, making 4-of-4 from the floor, including one from bonus land.
The Razorbacks inflated their cushion to 52-35 in the first five minutes of the second half, before the Aggies jumped back in the fray. Ten points by Clemence spearheaded a 20-7 charge as the Arkansas lead was cut to four points at the midway point. The Maroon & White were unable to make it a one-possession game as the Razorbacks made 13 straight field goals at one point down the stretch.
