
Aggies, Longhorns Clash on Senior Day

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M men's basketball team returns to Reed Arena to take on Texas in the Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown Saturday. Tip is set for 3 p.m. on ESPN2. Following the game, the Aggies will honor seniors Rashaun Agee, Ali Dibba, Federiko Federiko, Rylan Griffen, Marcus Hill and Jacari Lane on the court.
The Maroon & White sit at 19-9 on the season and 9-6 in SEC action. They look to bounce back after falling at No. 20 Arkansas Wednesday, 99-84. Despite the Aggies shooting 52.6-percent (30-57) from the field, their highest percentage in league play this year, they were unable to overcome a late surge by the Razorbacks. Zach Clemence had a career night, putting up 29 points on 11-of-14 (78.5%) shooting from the field. Agee added 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
Clemence has been strong off the bench as of late, averaging 16.2 points and shooting 65-percent from the field over the last five games. He is coming off his third 20-point game of the season and his 11 made field goals at Arkansas were the most in a game by an Aggie this season.
Agee continues to dominate of both ends of the floor, scoring in double figures in 15 of the last 17 games and registering 14 double-digit rebounding games this season. He is one double-double shy of Texas A&M's single-season record after notching his 11th of the year in the win over the Rebels. Tyler Davis holds the record with 12 double-doubles in 2017-18. Agee is averaging 15.1 points and 9.3 rebounds per game in SEC play. On the year, he ranks second among league players a with 8.8 rebounds and 6.3 defensive boards per game.
The Aggies are No. 10 in the country in scoring offense with 88.7 points per game and have seen at least 30 points come from non-starters in 17 games this season, including 45 at Arkansas. The Maroon & White rank second nationally and lead the conference averaging 36.8 bench points per game.
Texas enters the game at 17-11 on the season, 8-7 in league play. The Longhorns have won five of their last seven games, but recently fell at Georgia, 91-80, and at home to Florida, 84-71. Texas holds a 140-89 advantage in the all-time series with the Aggies that dates back to 1917. The Maroon & White picked up their first win in Austin since 2001 when they topped the Longhorns 74-70 in January and are chasing their first regular season sweep of Texas since the 1983-84 season.
