No. 14 Aggies Drop Heartbreaker to No. 13 Georgia, 4-3

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 14 Texas A&M men's tennis team dropped a heartbreaking 4-3 match to the No. 13 Georgia Bulldogs Friday night at the Mitchell Tennis Center.
The Aggies (9-4, 2-1 SEC) started the match with a thrilling doubles point victory. After dropping court 3, the Maroon & White faced two tiebreakers on courts 1 and 2. Coming from behind, the No. 80 duo of Theo Papamalamis and Togan Tokac were able to grab court 1 over No.61 Arda Azkara and Santiago Giamichelle, 7-6 (8). Seconds later, the No. 61 tandem of Kholo Montsi and Alex Frusina clinched the first point of the day, topping Will Jansen and Gabriele Vulpitta, 7-6 (4).
The Maroon & White picked up the first singles win after freshman Markus Molder defeated Derrick Chen in straight sets on court 4, 6-3, 6-3. Georgia (10-1, 3-0 SEC) responded by grabbing court 2.
Junior Lathan Skrobarcek extended his dual record to 4-0 after picking up his first career ranked win over No. 77 Gabriele Vulpitta on court 6. Skrobarcek recovered after dropping his first set to put the Aggies one away from the clinch, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
The Bulldogs were not deterred, halting the Aggies momentum by grabbing three straight courts for the win.
The Aggies look to respond when they host Vanderbilt this Sunday at 1 p.m.
