No. 14 Aggies Drop 4-3 Decision to Commodores

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 14 Texas A&M men's tennis team dropped a narrow 4-3 decision to the Vanderbilt Commodores on Sunday at the Mitchell Tennis Center.
The Aggies (9-5, 2-2 SEC) quickly found themselves in a hole as they dropped the doubles point with the Commodores (11-3, 3-1 SEC) rolling to 6-1 victories on courts 2 and 3 to clinch the advantage.
Once in singles, Texas A&M quickly knotted the score at 1-1 when sophomore Theo Papamalamis cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win over VU's Hoyoung Roh at court 1. The Aggies also received straight-set wins from senior Togan Tokac and freshman Markus Molder to put themselves one win away. Tokac defeated Nathan Cox, 7-5, 6-1 at court 4 and Molder took down Danil Panarin, 6-3, 7-5, at court 3.
In the last match standing at court 6, Vanderbilt's Hugo Coquelin outlasted sophomore Ritesh Patil, 6-4, 4-6, 6-0 to clinch the upset.
The Aggies return to action on Friday, March 6 with a road SEC match against the Florida Gators in Gainesville at 4 p.m.
