
Men’s Basketball Set to Face No. 17 Florida Saturday in Blackout Game at Reed Arena

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M men's basketball team is back at Reed Arena Saturday to host the No. 17 Florida Gators at 7:30 p.m.
The Aggies remain atop the SEC standings despite falling at Alabama, 100-97, Wednesday night, tallying their highest point total in an SEC game. The thriller featured 28 lead changes and 13 ties, coming down to the final shot. Rashaun Agee led the way with his fourth 20-point game of the year, finishing with 21. Marcus Hill added 18 points and six rebounds, while Rylan Griffen chipped in 17 points and six boards.
Agee has remained dominant in league action, averaging 16.2 points and 9.4 rebounds. He had scored in double figures in 11 straight games and his 10 double-doubles this year rank second in the league, while his career tally of 30 is tied for eighth among active Division I players. On the year, Agee ranks second among league players averaging 8.7 rebounds, while his 6.2 defensive boards per game are also good for second in the league.
The Aggies rank third nationally, scoring 92.0 points per game and are knocking down 11.6 3-pointers per contest, good for fifth in the country. Texas A&M has seen at least 30 points come from non-starters in 14 games this season, including 32 at Alabama. The Aggies rank second nationally and lead the conference averaging 38.0 bench points per game.
Texas A&M ranks fourth among Power 4 teams with 14.8 forced turnovers and 8.9 steals per game. Griffen paces the Aggies averaging 1.7 steals per game, which ranks eighth in the league.
Florida is 16-6 on the year and is tied with the Aggies for first in the SEC with a 7-2 record. After falling at Auburn at the end of January, the Gators made it back-to-back wins, topping South Carolina, 95-48, on the road and Alabama, 100-77, at home a week ago. Florida leads the all-time series with the Aggies, 11-9, but Texas A&M has claimed five of the last seven matchups. The Aggies fell in Gainesville, 89-70, last season, but claimed a 67-66 victory the last time the two teams met at Reed Arena in 2024.
