Feb 07, 2026 | Track and Field
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M track & field team broke two school records on the final day of the Charlie Thomas invitational, as Lily Carlson downed the women's pole vault all-time mark, while Henry Zimmerman followed suit in the men's weight throw Saturday at the R.A. 'Murray' Fasken '38 Indoor Track & Field facility.
"We had another good day today," head coach Pat Henry said. "We broke two school records and I feel we act like that's easy to do and it's certainly not. Henry [Zimmerman] continues to get after it, and he keeps trending in the right direction. Lily [Carlson] was impressive in the pole vault, she's doing some great things. Blake [Harris] also had a great two days, finishing with the second-best heptathlon performance at Texas A&M."
Carlson wrapped up the meet for the Aggies in staggering fashion, as the freshman phenom raised the bar once again. She broke her own school record with a clearance of 4.47m/14-8. The mark ranks her first among freshman in the country this year and ninth overall.
Continuing to separate himself at the top of the Texas A&M all-time performers list was Zimmerman, as he broke the school record in the event for the third time this season. The New Albany, Ohio, native recorded a toss of 22.14m/72-7.75 on his sixth-and-final attempt to ensure his third-straight win of the season.
Blake Harris capped off a career performance in the heptathlon, winning the event with a personal-best total of 5,867 points. He carried over 3,213 points from the opening day and began the final day securing two first-place finishes in the 60m hurdles (7.87) and pole vault (4.60m/15-1). Harris concluded the seven-event series in the 1,000m where he crossed the line second in 2:42.25 to ensure his overall win. The seniors' total ranks second in program history behind only Olympic bronze medalist and Aggie all-time great Lindon Victor.
The women's mile group had a pair enter the A&M record book, as Joyce Kemboi debuts at No. 3 all-time after crossing the line in 4:42.23 for third in the event and Megan Roberts landed at No. 8 after running 4:47.26 to place eighth overall.
Sophia Bendet stood out in her 800m collegiate debut, finishing first among collegiate athletes and third overall with a time of 2:07.06 which ranks ninth on the A&M all-time performers list. Reece Sharman-Newell secured his first win of the season in the men's event, crossing the line in 1:47.73.
Inside the oval the Maroon & White secured a plethora of podium finishes. Jaiya Covington finished as the top collegiate and second overall in the women's 60m hurdles with a time of 8.22. Camryn Dickson and Anya Jackson placed second (7.41) and third (7.43), respectively in the women's 60m, while Micah Larry and Richard Lee Jr. followed suit in the men's event landing second (6.76) and third (6.77).
Michael Moiben secured the first win of his freshman campaign in the 3,000m, crossing the line in 8:09.09. Hunter Jackson also ran a personal best in the event, finishing in 8:22.36.
