Mar 12, 2026 | Women's Tennis
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 5 Texas A&M women's tennis team fell to the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs, 5-2, Thursday night at the Mitchell Tennis Center.
The No. 11 combo of Mia Kupres and Lucciana Perez blitzed the No. 8 Georgia duo of Deniz Dilek and Aysegul Mert with a dominant 6-0 shutout to earn a victory on Court 1. The victory was the highest for the pairing of Kupres and Perez. The other two courts were battling for the Aggies (13-3, 5-1 SEC), down 4-3 in each match with the Bulldogs (10-2, 5-1 SEC) set to serve.
Court 2 would eventually fall, 6-3, but Court 3 with Violeta Martinez and Anna Perelman battling back from down 40-15 in the ninth game to push the action to a crucial 10th frame. Martinez and Perelman were unable to draw any closer, falling 6-4 and dropping the doubles point to the Bulldogs.
No. 5 Perez rolled her excellent doubles play onto the court 1 in singles, turning in a near perfect 6-1, 6-0 bludgeoning of No. 6 Mert to even the team score at 1-1. The junior collected her third top-10 singles victory of the year and moved to 15-0 this season.
Reed was down 3-0 in the first set on court 3 versus No. 48 Dilek but won six of the next seven frames to take the set, 6-4. The Orlando native maintained the momentum and dominated the second set with a 6-3 triumph, giving the Aggies a 2-1 lead.
UGA responded by taking courts 5 and 4 in rapid succession to regain the lead, 3-2. Freshman Anna Perelman on Court 6 dropped the first set and after losing her serve in the 10th frame, came back to break Sofia Rojas's serve to take back the advantage at 6-5. Down 40-15 in 12th frame, Perelman pushed the score to 40-40 and after a lengthy exchange between the two players, Perelman came out on top to force a third set in their match, 7-5.
No. 28 Kupres was in a war of her own on court 2, splitting the first two sets with No. 37 Anastassia Lopata. Lopata would claim the final set to clinch the match for the Bulldogs. Rojas also ended up taking her match versus Perelman to claim a 5-2 victory for Georgia.

On the match…
"We laid it all out there tonight. It was a great tennis match. The doubles was very important for us. We played amazing at one doubles. I felt like at two and three doubles we back down when we needed to take it to them. We played a great match against the best team in the nation right now. The math was there for us to win and again I felt like we backed off when things were on the line."
