TEXAS SERIES
Texas A&M (22-9, 5-1 SEC) and Texas (29-1, 6-0 SEC) have split their previous four meetings. In last season's clash, the Aggies rolled to a 14-2 victory in five innings to advance to the SEC Tournament Championship in Athens, Georgia. The first six Texas A&M batters reached safely, and the six runs the Aggies plated in the first inning were the most by any team in SEC Tournament history. KK Dement homered twice and matched her career-high with five RBI. Texas A&M is 8-14 all-time in Austin and last won there in 2024, taking game one of the NCAA Super-Regional, 6-5. Kennedy Powell went 2-for-4 with two runs, while Mya Perez started at designated player and went 1-for-2 with a walk.
WHERE THE AGGIES ARE NATIONALLY
The Aggies check in at No. 15 in the ESPN/USA Softball and D1 Softball polls, No. 16 in the NFCA rankings and No. 17 in Softball America. In the circle, the pitching staff ranks seventh nationally with a 4.11 strikeout-to-walk ratio and eighth with a 1.09 WHIP. At the plate, the offense ranks ninth in on-base percentage (.461), 13th in batting average (.357), 16th in slugging percentage (.605) and 17th in scoring (7.59). Individually, Perez ranks third nationally in on-base percentage (.639), ninth in slugging percentage (1.074) and 18th in both batting average (.494) and home runs (13). Sydney Lessentine ranks second nationally in walks allowed per seven innings (0.68) and fifth in strikeout-to-walk ratio (8.57).
WHERE THE AGGIES ARE IN THE SEC
Texas A&M enters the weekend 5-1 in SEC play after claiming a series at LSU and sweeping Kentucky at home. The road win in Baton Rouge was the first series victory there in program history, and the sweep of Kentucky was the eighth of its kind in the Trisha Ford era. Against league opponents, the Aggies are hitting .297 while holding opponents to a .196 average and outscoring them 38-20. On the season, Texas A&M ranks in the top five in the SEC in hits (291), batting average (.357), on-base percentage (.461), scoring (7.59) and WHIP (1.09).
MY-OH-MYA
Perez has been nearly unstoppable over the last 10 games, slashing .611/.806/1.556 with 28 total bases, five home runs, two doubles, 12 RBI, 11 runs and 17 walks, including a stretch of nine consecutive plate appearances in which she was walked. She and Kennedy Powell are the only Aggies to reach base safely in every game this season. Against ranked opponents, the junior is equally dominant, slashing .483/.605/1.000 over 10 games with four home runs, three doubles, seven walks, 12 RBI and five runs. Perez was recently named SEC Player of the Week for the first time this season and third time in her career after a dominant series at LSU. She went 3-for-3 with a double, a home run, a walk and three RBI in game one, then followed with a 2-for-3 effort featuring a home run and three RBI in game two to help the Aggies clinch their first road series win at LSU in program history. In game three, she was walked in all four plate appearances.
OL' RELIABLE
In 208 career appearances and 193 starts, Powell has built one of the most consistent resumes in the country. She recently surpassed 200 career hits and 50 career stolen bases, making her one of just 13 active players nationally to reach both milestones. The Conroe, Texas, native opened this season by scoring in each of the first 10 games and has crossed the plate in all but six games in 2026. Texas A&M is 11-2 when she scores multiple times. Powell ranks 16th nationally with 43 runs and has paced the Aggies in both SEC series, plating seven runs at LSU and four against Kentucky. She and Perez remain the only Aggies to reach base in every game this season, with the duo owning a 35-game on-base streak dating to 2025. Powell has also stolen 42 consecutive bases, an NCAA-leading active streak that dates to February 2024, including a perfect 19-for-19 on stolen base attempts in 2025.
THE LONG ROAD TO AGGIELAND
After sitting out the 2025 season due to SEC midyear transfer rules, Ariel Kowalewski has wasted no time making her presence felt. The team leader in doubles (12), she is hitting .400 with 38 hits and six home runs. Though she opened the season starting the first 19 games in right field, Kowalewski has settled in behind the plate, starting the last 13 games at catcher and batting .429 (15-for-35) with five doubles, 11 RBI, 10 runs and six walks during that stretch. She ranks third on the team in both multi-hit games (11) and multi-RBI games (seven). Against Sam Houston, she had her first career multi-homer game and a career-high five RBI. As a freshman at Florida in 2024, Kowalewski started 56 games at third base, hitting .308 with eight home runs and 33 RBI.
