No. 10 Aggies Take Down Hogs for Denton’s 400th Win

COLLEGE STATION – The No. 10 Texas A&M men's tennis team defeated the Arkansas Razorbacks, 4-1, giving head coach Steve Denton his 400th career win in Aggieland on Friday at the Mitchell Tennis Center.
The Aggies improved to 14-7 overall and 7-3 against SEC opponents, while the Razorbacks fell to 15-9 overall and 3-7 in league play. Already the winningest head coach in program history, Denton's 400th victory came in his 20th season at the helm of the Aggies.
Texas A&M got out to a quick start by winning the doubles point for an early 1-0 lead. The Aggies gained the advantage with the duo of Lathan Skrobarcek and Markus Molder prevailing 6-4 at court 3 and the tandem of Kholo Montsi and Alex Frusina delivering a 6-4 win at court 2.
Once in singles, the Aggies quickly took control with first-set victories on five of six courts. The Razorbacks briefly knotted the score at 1-1, but the Maroon & White secured the overall victory with a trio of straight-set triumphs. Togan Tokac struck first with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Arsene Pougault on court 5, followed Theo Papamalamis over No. 18 Jakub Vrba 6-1, 6-4 at court 1 and Frusina over Ben Weintraub 6-2, 6-4 at court 3. In other matches, Skrobarcek had won his first set and was in a second-set tiebreaker, while Montsi was leading 6-3, 4-2 when the match ended.
The Aggies return to action on Sunday with a 1 p.m. matchup with the Tennessee Volunteers (10-12, 1-8 SEC) at the Mitchell Tennis Center
