No. 3 Aggies Quash a Rebellion in Oxford, 4-1

OXFORD – The No. 3 Texas A&M women's tennis team fought through a stiff road test to prevail over the Ole Miss Rebels, 4-1, Friday afternoon Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.
No. 54 Ilinca Amariei earned the clinching singles point for the Maroon & White on court 3. After dropping the first set, she claimed 12 of the next 16 games to earn a 4-6, 6-0, 6-4 victory over Andrea Nova, improving the Aggies' record to 17-3 overall and 9-1 in SEC play.
With the victory, the Aggies remained in a tie with Auburn atop the SEC standings.
No. 2 Lucciana Perez set a Texas A&M record for consecutive SEC regular-season victories with her 29th in a row. Her 7-5, 6-3 victory over No. 15 Emily Welker on court 1 put the Aggies up 3-1 in the match. She topped the A&M mark set by Mary Stoiana. Perez improved to 18-0 in singles play in 2026, earning her sixth win of the season against a player ranked in the ITA top 15.
The Aggies split the courts early in doubles as Daria Smetannikov/Lexington Reed delivered a steady 6-4 win over Ichino Horikawa/Beatrice Stagno on court 3. Ole Miss (9-8, 3-7 SEC) answered on court 1, where the No. 23 ranked duo of Welker/Nova topped No. 8 Mia Kupres/Perez, 6-3 to even the courts. With the point on the line, No. 75 Amariei/Violeta Martinez secured the advantage for the Maroon & White, grinding out a 6-4 victory over Alice Soulie/Riley Crowder on court 2.
Texas A&M jumped out to a 2-0 advantage when No. 96 Martinez made quick work of Horikawa on court 5, 6-2, 6-3. The Rebels answered with a point on court 4 where Crowder toppled Reed, 6-3, 6-4.
A pair of grueling matches went unfinished. Ole Miss' Soulie nosed ahead of No. 31 Kupres on court 2, 5-7, 6-3, 4-2. The Aggies' Smetannikov held a 6-7(3), 6-1, 2-1 edge over Stagno on court 6 when the match came to a close.
