No. 18 Aggies Storm the Gators Swamp, 4-1

GAINESVILLE – The No. 18 Texas A&M men's tennis team defeated the No. 24 Florida Gators in a top 25 road showdown, 4-1, at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex Friday night.
Sophomore Alex Frusina clinched the win for the Maroon & White after overcoming splitting his first two sets, to earn a ranked win over No. 31 Pablo Perez Ramos. The No. 86 Conroe, Texas native responded after dropping the second set tiebreaker with an assertive third set, 6-2, (2)6-7, 6-2.
The Aggies (10-5, 3-2 SEC) started from behind after dropping two consecutive courts to the Gators (7-7, 2-3 SEC) for them to grab the doubles point and start singles action with an advantage.
Texas A&M stormed back in singles, grabbing four consecutive wins to claim the match. Sophomore Theo Papamalamis grabbed the Maroon & White's first point of the day after earning a ranked win over No. 50 Henry Jeffereson on court 1, 6-4, 6-2.
Senior Togan Tokac delivered a dominating match, only dropping two games to Kevin Edengren on court 5, 6-2, 6-0. Junior Lathan Skrobarcek put the Aggies one shy of the win after topping Andreas Timini, 7-5, 6-4, to extend his record to 4-0 on court six this season.
The Aggies were one point shy of the clinch, looking for one of the last remaining three courts to close out. All three courts had been forced into third sets before Frusina secured the victory.
The Maroon & White stay on the road as they head to Columbia, South Carolina to face the Gamecocks Sunday at 12 p.m.
