Aggies Win Eight Events on Second Day of 44 Farms Team Invitational

COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M track & field team won eight events on the second day of the 44 Farms Team Invitational Friday at E.B. Cushing Stadium.
Blake Harris capped off his decathlon campaign on top, as he won the event with a personal-best total of 7,727 points which moved him up to No. 4 in the Texas A&M record book. He carried over 4,014 points from the first five events on the opening day and held that rhythm on day two. The junior secured four personal bests including, 110m hurdles (13.98), discus (40.29m/132-2), pole vault (4.50m/14-9) and 1,500m 4:39.08. He rounded out the performances in the javelin (52.12m/171-0) to ensure his career-best decathlon showing.
Jayla Hooper set the tone in the field, finishing first in the women's hammer throw. She ensured back-to-back weeks with a personal best after recording a toss of 60.83m/199-7 to improve her mark at No. 4 on A&M's all-time performers list. Henry Zimmerman followed suit, taking the men's event with a mark of 66.19m/217-2.
On the track, Anya Jackson made her presence felt as she won the women's 200m after running the No. 2 time in the country with an all-conditions best of 22.56. She was tailed closely by Lacarthea Cooper who was second overall in 22.87 and Jasmine Montgomery in sixth (23.09). On the men's side, Blake Holland and Lawson Jacobs finished fifth (20.75) and sixth (20.85), respectively.
The pole vault group captured a title thanks to freshman standout Lily Carlson who led the way. She won the women's event with a personal-best clearance of 4.20m/13-9.25 which moved her up to No. 3 in the Aggie record book. Oleg Ananev was the top finisher on the men's side with a season-best mark of 5.32m/17-5.5.
Morgan Davis held the momentum in the long jump, tacking on a victory of her own. The junior leaped a wind-aided mark of 6.33m/20-9.25 to ensure her win. Khybah Dawson landed on the podium in the men's event after a jump of 7.74m/25-4.75 which was good for second.
Abigail Martin brought a title home for the throws group, taking the women's discus event with a mark of 56.73m/186-1. Carlie Weiser also placed third (50.64m/166-2), while Ethan Sanders did the same on the men's side after a toss of 56.24m/184-6.
The final victory on the oval came courtesy of Aiden Gonzalez-Rodiles, as the junior crossed the line in 14:41.02 to claim the win in the 5,000m.
