COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M's Kholo Montsi was named to the SEC Men's Tennis All-Tournament Team for his perfect singles performance, the league announced following the conclusion of the championship.
Montsi delivered three singles wins at court 2 across the three matches the Aggies played in their semifinal run. In Thursday's second round action against Vanderbilt, the South African gave the Aggies a 3-2 advantage after forcing a tiebreaker opening set from down 3-5 against No. 85 Hoyoung Roh, 7-6(3), 6-4.
The junior transfer from Oklahoma clinched the win against his former team in quarterfinal action. With the score tied at three-all, Montsi earned his third clinch of the season against top-10 teams in the last man standing match. He defeated No. 61 Oscar Lacides after splitting his first two sets, 6-4, 6-7 (2), 6-3.
In the Maroon & White's semifinal matchup against No. 1 Texas, Montsi secured one of the two singles points the Aggies picked up in the 4-2 loss. Montsi upset No. 34 Kalin Ivanovski in straight sets, 7-6(3), 6-1.
Montsi was named a SEC Player of the Week earlier in the season and now holds a 13-4 singles dual record. In doubles, he has posted a 13-8 dual record mainly with partner Alex Frusina.
