BIRMINGHAM – No. 3 Texas A&M had two Aggies earn league honors headlined by SEC Player of the Year Lucciana Perez, the conference announced Wednesday.
Perez, the No. 1 ranked player in the country, garnered All-SEC First Team recognition. Mia Kupres picked up all-league honors for the fourth time, securing a spot on the All-SEC Second Team.
Rolling to a 23-0 singles record, Perez staked claim to the No. 1 ITA ranking on March 31, becoming the second Aggie to ever land the top spot. Perez went 13-0 in league regular season action to stretch her school record of consecutive SEC regular season wins to 32.
The Lima, Peru, native netted 14 ranked wins, including five against top-10 opponents and nine against the top 25. She also went 12-7 in doubles action with six ranked wins.
Perez became the second A&M player to earn SEC Player of the Year, joining Mary Stoiana who secured the award in 2023 and '24.
Kupres is currently ranked No. 48 in singles and teams with Perez for a No. 11 ranking in doubles. She battled through an injury early in the spring to post a 14-9 singles record. She has registered four ranked wins on the season, including a pair of top-25 victories. Kupres also posted 16 victories in doubles play with seven ranked wins. She paired with Perez to post three top 10 victories during the dual season.
The Edmonton, Alberta, product qualified for the NCAA Individual Championships in both singles and doubles during the fall campaign. She paired with Daria Smetannikov to claim a spot in doubles play and in singles she advanced to the Round of 32.
Kupres was named an All-SEC first teamer in 2024 and she secured second team recognition in 2023 and '25. She earned ITA All-American status in doubles in 2024 paired with Stoiana. They reached No. 2 in the doubles rankings on Aug. 27, 2024.
