No. 9 Baseball Slugs Past Prairie View to Secure Midweek Win

COLLEGE STATION – No. 9 Texas A&M launched four home runs to claim the midweek finale against Prairie View A&M, 16-7, from Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
The Aggies (36-10) were led offensively by Jake Duer and Wesley Jordan who both drilled home runs, each ending the contest with four RBI.
The Panthers (10-36) got on the board first behind a four-spot in the third inning.
In the home half of the third, the Aggies took the lead, plating five runs off four hits. An RBI double from Gavin Grahovac brought in the first run for the Maroon & White. After Caden Sorrell drew a walk, Duer cleared the bases with a two-RBI double, bringing the game within one. Bear Harrison launched his 10th homer of the season to left-center field, traveling 446 feet and leaving the bat at 101 miles per hour to put the Aggies in front.
The momentum continued as Texas A&M brought six runs to the plate in the fourth inning, starting with a two-run shot from Grahovac, marking his 17th long ball of the season. Sorrell walked, and Duer followed with a 415-foot two-run homer. A triple from Jorian Wilson brought Harrison across the plate, and Wilson later scored on a wild pitch.
The visitors scratched three runs in the fifth inning off an error and an RBI single.
In the sixth, the Maroon & White chalked a run from a bases-loaded walk before adding another in the seventh with an RBI knock from Jordan.
Jordan delivered the final blow in the eighth inning with a deep three-run blast to center field that traveled 407 feet.
Juan Vargas got the start for the Aggies, throwing a scoreless 2.0 innings, allowing two hits and recording a season-high three punchouts. Grant Cunningham (4-1) earned the win, tossing 2.0 innings and allowing four runs off four hits while punching out three batters. Cole Hubert, Hunter Bond and Cooper Powell followed out of the bullpen. Bond was the most effective reliever, tossing a career-high 3.1 innings, while delivering four strikeouts and sitting down all 10 batters he faced.
