Franchini Makes Italian FIBA U20 EuroBasket Team

ALYTUS-KLAIPEDA, Lithuania – Texas A&M's Anita Franchini was chosen to take part in the FIBA EuroBasket U20 Italian squad, the organization announced Tuesday.
The tournament takes place in the cities of Alytius and Klapeda of Lithuania July 4-12. Italy will take part in Group C alongside Poland, Serbia and Iceland. Italy faces off against Poland Saturday, July 4, to open group play. For more information and to view the tournament schedule, click here.
Franchini is a rising sophomore who helped lead the Aggies to a No. 1 seed in the 2026 WBIT. The 6-1 forward had a career day against the eventual national runner-up South Carolina Gamecocks when she logged 29 minutes and scored seven points, while recording six steals and nine rebounds.
On the international stage, Franchini helped the Italian U18 squad to a 5-2 record at the 2024 European Championships. She scored a tournament-best 12 points and recorded four steals versus Hungary in the first round of the main bracket.
During the 2023-24 and 2022-23 seasons, Franchini suited up for Umana Reyer Venezia in the Italian Serie A1 league for two games both years. She also helped her U16 team in 2022 to an eighth-place finish at the FIBA Women's European Championships.
