2017: Approached her PR as she opened the season throwing 181-1 (55.37) twice to win the Baldy Castillo Invitational at Arizona State … Placed fourth at Texas Relays (174-3/53.12) and was second best collegian in field … Finished sixth at Sun Angel Classic (158-2/48.22), third at Jim Bush Collegiate Invitational (156-9/47.78) and second at SEC Relays (172-10/52.68) … Third-place effort of 181-6 (55.33) during the SEC Championships … Had second best throw (171-11/52.40) during NCAA West preliminary round … Finished seventh in NCAA Championships with a throw of 175-4 (53.44) … Placed eighth at USATF Championships (166-1/50.62).
2016: Opened season with a personal best throw of 171-7 (52.30) for fourth place at Arizona State’s Castillo Invitational … Won the UTSA Invitational with a toss of 169-10 (51.76) … Finished 10th at Texas Relays (146-8/44.71) … Placed third at Sun Angel Classic (167-4/51.00), second in UCLA dual (167-7/51.09) and fourth at LSU Invitational (150-4/45.82) … Finished fourth in SEC Championships with a career best throw of 179-0 (54.57) … Had fourth best throw in NCAA West preliminary round (174-9/53.26) … Improved her career best to 187-2 (57.06) for third place in NCAA Championships as sister, Maggie, won the event with a collegiate record of 204-0 (62.19) … A third round mark of 176-8 (53.84) moved Audrey from 21st to fifth place heading into the final three rounds … Her improvement from debut in 2015 to NCAA performance measured nearly 40 feet (39 feet, 10 inches).
2015: Competed in the pentathlon in her debut performance with the Aggies, scoring 2,653 points to place eighth at the 2014 Reveille Invitational held in December … Her debut effort in the javelin resulted in a throw of 147-4 (44.90) for ninth place at Arizona State’s Buddy Castillo Invitational in mid-March … Placed seventh at Stanford Invitational (138-2/42.11) and improved to 150-11 (45.99) for fifth place at Michael Johnson Classic … Runner-up with a career best of 157-4 (47.97) at TCU Horned Frog Invite … Placed 19th at SEC Championships (138-1/42.10) and finished 15th at NCAA West preliminary round (150-6/45.88).
HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Bryan High School in 2014 after growing up in Geneva, Nebraska, until her senior year of school… Academic honors included graduating in top 10% of class … Competed in volleyball, basketball, track and field … Events contested in track and field included long jump, triple jump, 100m hurdles, 4x1 and 4x4 relays … Coached by Nancy Kindig-Malone, Joni Karcher, Michelle Evans and Tony Beam.
PERSONAL: Audrey Frances Malone was born June 16, 1995 in Lincoln, Nebraska … Daughter of Danny Malone and Nancy Kindig-Malone … Has two siblings, Maggie and Callahan … Maggie competed in track and field at Texas A&M, winning the 2016 NCAA Championship in the javelin with a collegiate record of 204-0 (62.19) and graduated in 2017 … Started competing in track and field at age 5, running over hurdles her mother made out of pvc pipe … Chose Texas A&M due to Coach Kris Grimes persistence, the homey feel of the track program and school, and the top-rated track program … Community service and extracurricular activities include Matt Talbot Soup Kitchen and St. Joseph’s CHI Outpatient Rebah Center … Majoring in Psychology with a Neuroscience minor.
TIDBITS: Career goal is to become a speech pathologist … Chose to compete in track and field since her mom and sister were collegiate track and field athletes, and Coach Kris Grimes saw something in her that nobody else did.
