Collegiate Career
SOPHOMORE (2015): Little claimed a silver medal in the final of the 400 hurdles at the IAAF World Championships, producing a time of 53.94 seconds from lane two inside the Bird’s Nest stadium...Little became the first female to medal at the World Junior Championships and then medal the following year at the World Championships...Added another 400-meter hurdle title to her impressive résumé as she recorded a winning time of 55.50 seconds to secure the Pan American Games title...Little earned a second gold medal at the Pan American Games during the final day of track and field at York University as she ran the opening leg of the winning 4x400 relay effort by the United States...Producing a lead-off leg split of 50.83 seconds, the fastest among the U.S. foursome, the remaining order of Kyra Jefferson (51.52), Shakima Wimbley (51.07) and Kendall Baisden (52.26) cruised to a 3:25.68 victory unchallenged...Won the USATF Championship in the 400 hurdles with a time of 53.83 (after running 54.14 to post the top time in the semifinal), earning on spot on Team USA for the Pan Am Games in Toronto, Canada, in July as well as the IAAF World Championships in Beijing, China, in August...Became first hurdler to win NCAA and USATF titles in the same season since 2004 (Sheena Johnson, UCLA)…Just second hurdler in history to claim U.S. Junior title and then win the U.S. Senior title the following season, previously accomplished in 1978-79 by Edna Brown of Temple…Successfully defended her NCAA 400 hurdles title with a world-leading 53.74 victory in Eugene as she claimed the lead after 10th hurdle...Her time is the third fastest NCAA winning time in the event and the fourth fastest collegiate time ever...It also improved her Texas A&M school record, which she first broke in winning the 2014 NCAA title in 55.07...At 20 years old, she also became the youngest hurdler to ever run under 54 seconds...Defeated Kentucky's Kendra Harrison (54.09) in the NCAA final for the second consecutive year...Completed an undefeated collegiate season in the 400 hurdles, which included five finals amid nine races...Won the SEC title in 400 hurdles with a then school record time of 54.68 in the rain at Mississippi State over defending champion Harrison (55.60)..The first 400 hurdler to claim SEC and NCAA victories in the same season since 2006, Little became just the fifth SEC hurdler to achieve the double in the same season...Opened the outdoor campaign in the 400 hurdles with a meet record of 56.42 at Stanford Invitational...Also claimed victories at Sun Angel Classic (56.43) and TCU Horned Frog Invitational (57.27) prior to SEC Championships...In solo races ran 23.45 in 200 meters at Arizona State Castillo Inv. and a 51.77 in 400 meters at Michael Johnson Classic in Waco...Ran opening leg of 4x100 relay as A&M won Arizona State Castillo Invitational (44.12) and placed second in Texas Relays (43.72)...On the 4x200 relay, ran lead-off leg on winning effort at Texas Relays (1:32.41) and third leg of runner-up effort at Penn Relays (1:31.17)...Anchored Aggie 4x400 relay at Texas Relays (6th, 3:37.96), Penn Relays (1st, college division 3:35.10), SEC Championships (2nd, 3:32.40) and NCAA Championships (7th, 3:34.41).
Indoors - Placed fourth in the 400 meters at NCAA Championships with a 52.21...Defended her SEC Championship title in the 400 with a collegiate-leading time of 51.37 on Kentucky's oversized track...Ran 51.92 for third place at Tyson Invitational...Set an indoor PR of 23.48 to win 200 meters at Texas A&M Aggie Invitational...Anchored A&M 4x400 as they placed third in the SEC (3:32.90, oversized track) and 12th in the NCAA Championships (3:38.55)...Ran opening leg of 4x400 as Aggies won Reveille Invitational (3:42.40) and Texas A&M Quadrangular (3:37.02) while placing second at Tyson Invitational (3:32.84)...Covered second leg on winning 4x400 at Texas A&M Team Invitational (3:39.40) and runner-up effort at Aggie Invitational (3:34.91).
FRESHMAN (2014): National champion in the NCAA 400 hurdles and set a school record of 55.07 to win the final…Moved to No. 2 on the U.S. Junior all-time list and No. 4 on World Junior all-time list…Broke the 1998 school record of 55.24 set by Rosa Jolivet in winning the NCAA title in Buffalo…Lowered PR to 55.58 during the NCAA semifinal…Claimed her second USATF Junior title in 400 hurdles over the past three years with a victory in Eugene, running a 55.43 for the 2014 title ... Represented the United States during the IAAF World Junior Championships held in Eugene during July where she won gold in the 400 hurdles in a time of 55.66... Won SEC Outdoor 400m title from lane 2 with a PR of 51.06, which ranks No. 3 on the Aggie all-time list and No. 9 on the U.S. Junior all-time list…World Junior leader in the 400 hurdles since clocking 57.38 to win Stanford Invitational on April 4…Improved her 400 hurdle time to 56.55 in winning Sun Angel Classic at Arizona State (4/12)…Clocked 56.34 in prelims of SEC Championships, then placed third in the final an hour after winning the 400 meters with a PR of 56.01…Improved again during the NCAA West preliminary round with a 55.41 that ranks No. 3 on the Aggie all-time list and No. 5 on the U.S. Junior all-time list…Only athlete currently on top 10 U.S. Junior all-time list in both the 400 and 400 hurdles…In relay action, ran second leg of 4x200 that won Penn Relays title in collegiate leading 1:30.21 and placed second at Texas Relays in 1:31.82…Ran on 4x400 crew that placed third at Texas Relays (3:31.27) and Penn Relays (3:29.96)…First leg of 4x400 that posted a season best 3:28.24 at NCAA West preliminary round.
Indoors – Placed third in the 400 final at NCAA Indoor Championships with a career best of 51.96 seconds…Ran in lane 3 of the first section defeating a pair of Longhorns in the process…Times that bettered her performance in the second section included an American indoor record of 50.46 by Phyllis Francis of Oregon and a 51.71 by Ashley Spencer of Texas, the two-time NCAA Outdoor champion…Advanced to the NCAA Indoor 400 final as the last time qualifier with a 52.69 for fourth place in her heat…Finished third in the SEC Indoor 400m with an indoor career best of 51.86…Won her first two races as an Aggie in 400 with victories at Texas A&M Triangular (53.64) and Texas A&M Invitational (52.44, which was a PR)…Also established a career best of 23.72 in the 200, placing second in the Texas A&M Aggie Invitational…In the 60 hurdles set a pair of career best times, running 8.47 for third place at the Razorback Invitational and then posted an 8.43 for fourth place in Texas A&M Aggie Invitational…Ran legs on 4x400 relay that won at A&M Triangular (3:34.15), Aggie Invitational (3:36.20), and Texas A&M Invitational (3:21.91 meet record)…Opening leg of 4x400 at SEC Indoor as Aggies placed second, but was disqualified for interference on anchor leg.
HIGH SCHOOL: 2013 graduate of Lindbolm Math & Science Academy in Chicago … Lettered four years in track and field, coached by Tasha McCray … Won three of her four events in the Illinois State 2A Championships as a senior, setting 2A meet records in the 100 hurdles (13.87) and 200 meters (24.05) while capturing the 400 in 54.37 and placing second in the 300 hurdles with a 42.29 … Little totaled all 38 points for Lindblom as they placed fourth in team scoring one point behind two schools which tied for second place …
Three-event Illinois State 2A Champion in 2012 … Claimed State titles in 400 meters (54.19), 100 hurdles (14.02) and 300 hurdles (42.80) while finishing as runner-up in 200 (24.48) … Personal best times include 53.46 in 400, 13.79 in 100 hurdles and 57.44 in 400 hurdles … Ran 53.46 in 400 as runner-up at 2012 AAU Junior Olympics … Placed third at USATF Junior Olympics in the 100 hurdles with her 13.79 … Recorded 57.44 as 2012 US Junior champion in the 400 hurdles, and posted a 57.46 in semifinals of World Junior Championships, but did not finish final … Won 2012 Arcadia 400 title in then career best 53.79 … Placed third at Arcadia in 300 hurdles (42.95) and fifth in 100 hurdles (14.14) … As a sophomore in 2011, won Illinois State 2A title in 100 hurdles (14.16) and 400 meters (54.85) while placing third in 200 (24.53).
PERSONAL: Daughter of Sean Little and Tiffany Mayfield … Born March 20, 1995 in Louisville, Kentucky … Has three silblings, Timothy, Shakira and Samiyre … Her father played cornerback for Eastern Kentucky University while her mother was a guard on Eastern Kentucky’s basketball team and competed in track and field, clearing 5-8 in high jump … Started competing in track and field at age 8 … Chose Texas A&M since she liked the coaches, team and campus on her visit, noting it felt like home.
