Edward Williams joined the Athletics Department as Sports Science PhD Fellow in August of 2024.
In his role, Williams manages all sports science related tasks with Women’s Soccer. Responsibilities range from daily team monitoring, assessments, consolidation of data, and providing coaches and Performance & Wellness staff with reports and data-informed recommendations to assist in their decision-making process.
Academically, Williams is pursuing his PhD in Kinesiology at Texas A&M under chair Dr. Steven Riechman from the Department of Kinesiology. He received a Bachelor's of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Texas in 2019 and his Master’s of Science in Movement and Cognitive Rehabilitation Science from the University of Texas in 2021.
As a Certified Athletic Trainer and Strength and Conditioning coach, Williams worked with Austin’s professional rugby team for 2 season. With AG Rugby, he assisted as an ATC, strength coach, and sports scientist with the professional side, and led those efforts for the Academy sides. Following the dissolution of the club, Williams spent a year splitting time between an outpatient orthopedic clinic and an Austin gym known as The Kollective, working with NFL and NBA athletes in their offseason. He then joined Texas Athletics as the Assistant Athletic Trainer for Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving for the 2023-2024 season.
